The first story in this collection can be read completely for free, but the others will need the subscription to check them out. One of the darkest relationships in the show by far, surprisingly, turns out to be Light and his father, Soichiro. An intelligent high school student goes on a secret crusade to eliminate criminals. With the Death Note Short Stories collection now hitting shelves across North America, Viz Media has also made them available digitally for those with a paid Shonen Jump subscription. Death Note recently returned with a new sequel chapter from the original creators, and Viz Media has now made this sequel and some special new short stories from the series available through their digital Shonen Jump vault! Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata surprisingly returned to their massively popular Weekly Shonen Jump magazine franchise a couple of years ago with a brand new story set after the end of the original series, and it was such a success that Viz Media released a physical version of it together with some of the short stories that never got an official release before.
